Indie film night is BACK, finestyle.

As you know, 123 Pleasant Street has (rather irregularly, if I'm not mistaken) has been showing some very worthwhile underground films on Monday night. And, on Monday, March 20th (the Monday after WVU's spring break), will be screening Rocket Fuel Films' We Jam Econo -- The Story of The Minutemen .

Not only is this film an extraordinary documentary on one of the most important and influential post-punk/proto-indie bands of the Reagan-era American underground, but it has yet to be released on home video, and is currently making small runs through small theaters and music/art venues throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The movie will start at 9:30 (so all you working stiffs and/or poor student swots can get to bed at a reasonable hour), and admission is FREE (yay!), so you'll be able to enjoy some culture (really!) without having to pay an arm and a leg.

So, if you have the time, and the interest, I urge you to attend.

GL1TCH, 123 Listings

Hey All,

Just got a bulletin from Dave Riggs, who organizes GL1TCH (I'm not sure if he has help or not), that they are looking for live electronic musicians of 'any genre,' although they want people who will actually be performing, not just cueing something up that they've written. They're also seeking people who can do video to go along with the music. They're looking at a possible date in late March. Their website is here.. Send e-mail to meow@gl1tch.com if you would like to participate. GL1TCH has been held a few times in the past with various local musicians and a few out of town guests. Most of them are faces you'd recognize from the live rock scene as well. The music tends to be more of the 'chin-scratching' kind of electronic music and not so much the 'ass-shaking' kind. So you'd be more likely to hear Downtempo and IDM than you would Ghetto Tech and Miami Bass. Last time some of WVU's Intermedia students did some pretty cool video and I hope they'll continue that tradition.

Also a reminder that tonight the Suicide Machines will be gracing 123 Pleasant Street with locals Law Biting Citizens (playing their next to last show ever) and veteran ska shockers Cryptorchid Chipmunk. It should be a big night for punk rawk. I *also* noticed that 123 has begun putting more updated postings on their Myspace page than they have on their .com site, which is both good and bad. I know that the website would be updated frequently if LJ kept in better touch with the guy who updates the listings (aka my roomate Tommy Molecule), and I think he runs the Myspace page himself so that's probably why.
