Indie film night is BACK, finestyle.
As you know, 123 Pleasant Street has (rather irregularly, if I'm not mistaken) has been showing some very worthwhile underground films on Monday night. And, on Monday, March 20th (the Monday after WVU's spring break), will be screening Rocket Fuel Films' We Jam Econo -- The Story of The Minutemen .
Not only is this film an extraordinary documentary on one of the most important and influential post-punk/proto-indie bands of the Reagan-era American underground, but it has yet to be released on home video, and is currently making small runs through small theaters and music/art venues throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The movie will start at 9:30 (so all you working stiffs and/or poor student swots can get to bed at a reasonable hour), and admission is FREE (yay!), so you'll be able to enjoy some culture (really!) without having to pay an arm and a leg.
So, if you have the time, and the interest, I urge you to attend.

Were they called the Minutemen because they were so tiny?

Actually, in a sense, yes.
As in: "Here are the big rockstarts, and we're the minute men."
Also, as a reference to/slag on the 60s right-wing radical group, whom they detested.
But never, at any time did "Minutemen" refer to the brevity of their songs.
