Catching Up

I don't know how everyone else's holiday break went, but mine involved a lot of hours working, and not much live music nor time in Morgantown. I didn't get to take part in New Year's at 123, I spent it in a hotel room in Atlanta, where I hear someone brought a couch down from WV on their flatbed truck for the burning purposes. Likely it's cinders now.

As for forthcoming shows, I'm curious about checking out the Sam Lowry show on Friday. Reason#1: because I haven't been to 123 in a dog's age (NOT a dawg's age) and because Mikey Iafrate and David Bello are once again combining their musical forces Constructacon style as openers. Reason #2: Sam has the same name as the protagonist in Terry Gilliam's Brazil. Oh, and while on the subject, Dave Bello Band has a new myspace page. It's got downloadable MP3s of some of the songs they play live, although I think they're Dave's mostly solo recordings, not the full band.

Then a week from Tuesday we can see David LowEry and company with Camper Van Beethoven. Hell yea. I'm gonna have to take off work for that. Did anyone hear who the opener was? The Emergency maybe? Oh, and a little plug, Jeremy and I will be spinning on Saturday the 14th, but you should really come out to see Girl Talk, who is making his triumphant return to Chez 123 and will surely be pantsing himself to the beat of Janet Jackson mashed with the Creation. Or something.

So did you all see any good live music while we were gone? Got some best-of-2005 lists maybe? I'm holding off on mine until I fully digest the new Broadcast album. Yummy.
