Independent's Day
I had a good extended weekend this weekend, and it proved it again to be a good time to be a Morgantownian. Thursday night I saw the Emergency rock, and managed to get Billy Matheny to play me a one-off request at McClafferty's between two tepid versions of "Pride and Joy" by a random drunk dude at an open mic. On Friday, Lucero came to town, and the town came to Lucero. What a good show. I'm not going to pick it apart, but sheesh is that band great or what? Plus it was packed, mainly with out of towners, but it was fun to see the bar full. Finally, on Saturday my band, '85 Flood, played a show at McClafferty's which had been scheduled and canceled at the Brew Pub. The show was a raging success, in spite of the fact it almost didn't happen. The rest of the long weekend was spent grilling, drinking, and setting shit on fire: but that's what the holiday's are for.
It's good to live in Morgantown.
Even in the summer.
Don't forget it.
