Less than 100 words on why you should buy this local record...

The Hillbilly Gypsies
One Foot in the Gravy

  • The Hillbilly Gypsies are a spectacle to behold live, however, they can‘t all fit in your car. This CD can.
  • You need some banjo in your life (and some fiddle too, come to think of it).
  • “West Virginia My Home” … and it’s your home too. Show some respect.
  • It’s twenty tracks deep, that’s what my grandma would call “bang for your buck”.
  • Two songs about chickens.
  • If you’re down with bluegrass, this CD is your thing.
  • If you’re not down with bluegrass it’s a damn good place to start.

This CD is availaible at your finer local record stores and online at thehillbillygypsies.com

    in amendment...

Im going to start this "less than 100 words.." album review column for two reasons...

first, i'm too busy to write full length professional sounding reviews. plus, that can get lame and boring quick.

secondly, there have been quite a few damn good local releases in the past year or so, with a couple of highly anticapted ones coming really soon. this town puts out good music. people should know about it.

though i have a few in mind, send me any and all recommendations for upcoming columns. i'm going to try to make this a weekly event, so i'l need some help.

Not a bad plan -- I'm gonna do a review of Stonewall Jackson 5ive's e.p. for this thingamajiggy (I have more free time, so I can be more of a COF reg), probably tomorrow.

    Bluegrass!
