Anybody got a match?
Alright.
I know.
This place, like the rest of town has died down for the summer. For my part, I apoligize. I haven't had internet at my house for months, and my job gets nuts in the summer. That said, I think this weblog is a good thing, it just needs some fresh ideas and new blood. I'm going to get back on the horse and do my best in posting weekend roundups, cd reviews, and show reviews. However, I am but one man, who only can see so many shows.
We need some new ideas. Interested? It can be anything. It just has to be remotely related to the local scene. Rants and diatribes about flyers, band practice, noise ordinances, drop d tuning, sound guys, scenesters, festivals and house partys would all fit. The sky's the limit.
If you're an old hand at this Couches thing, I encourage you to jump back in. If you've never written anything before, drop me an email at aaron_j_hawley@yahoo.com and I'll set you up to post here.
We need help. Ultimately I think a thriving local music scene depends on two things: talent and communication. We have talent coming out our ears here in Morgantown, we just need to be a little better informed about it.
There some incredible stuff on the way this fall, including new cds from the Emergency, the Morgantown Rounders, and Billy Matheny, the unbelievable Clampdown! 2006 benefit show at 123, and and Wilco coming to town.
C'mon folks we got it good.
Sincerely yours,
Town E. Dispatch
